One of my favorite childhood books was “The Little Mermaid” by Hans Christian Anderson. When Disney made it into an animated feature film, I happily went to it as a child and loved every minute of it. Now, one of my favorite TV shows is “Project Runway”, and today these two favorites converged when Alyssa (the hostess of “Project Runway All-Stars”) mentioned she had been the inspiration for Ariel in “The Little Mermaid”. Apparently the animation artists used photos of Alyssa from her time on “Who’s the Boss?” to give them ideas on Ariel’s face. This had been announced in 2013 by Milano on the Wendy Williams show, but it was the first time I’d personally heard it. A fun fact, especially since the show had an aquatic theme for the designers.
